Some thoughts

I have been loving writing the later portion of the story. I wonder often if I need the first part, or if writing it was just part of figuring out the world, which was much needed.

I have a hard time trying to summarize the whole thing, but the ending of the first part is tragic. Maybe that’s okay? I just feel like it is too depressing to stand alone.

As a result I have weird descriptions in the later portion because I haven’t decided if the reader is going to know who these people are or how they are connected, ’cause I don’t know if I will have brought you from the beginning or not.

I guess one option I could do is to re-frame the first portion to make it end with a different character. The original idea was that it was the back story for Aila and Kyra. Then I realized that means I have a different main character for each part, so I brought Zuriel out more, but it still ends with the tragedy of how Aila and Kyra ended up isolated in a sub-realm. Perhaps, I could explore Zuriel’s childhood, and end it on a high note with him?

Or am I totally wrong, and its fine to just write a tragedy?
